Fort Bend Independent School District encourages and equips its students to achieve greater than they ever could have dreamed. FBISD offers innovative programming options tailored specifically to student needs in all schools.
Cornerstone Elementary’s inDIstructibles team will compete at the Destination Imagination Global Finals Tournament this May in Kansas City, Missouri after earning first place at their Gulf Coast Regional Tournament.
About the District
In 2022, 57% of eligible campuses earned at least one Distinction designation – an impressive feat and evidence of our dedication to excellence.
District-wide, students can experience an array of academic and vocational options through 82 schools – comprehensive high schools, middle and elementary campuses, specialty schools for gifted children as well as various career and technical education programs.
The District is at the forefront of innovative teaching and learning practices, such as Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), an evidence-based approach to student behavior management that improves academic success while simultaneously strengthening school climate.
District students also have numerous opportunities to expand their leadership potential through service learning, various leadership programs and community engagement activities. Furthermore, many FBISD students participate in Destination Imagination competition, an open-ended academic competition designed to develop creativity and problem-solving skills; one team from Skyward FBISD recently competed at the World Finals held in Tennessee! Furthermore, full-day prekindergarten classes are provided at 25 elementary campuses with two early literacy centers located within FBISD as well.
Our Mission
Fort Bend Independent School District’s mission is to motivate and equip its students to achieve futures beyond what they can conceive through collaboration among its high-quality staff, dedicated board members, business and community partners and community members.
The District continues to focus on increasing teacher effectiveness and creating sustainable systems that promote student success, including the implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), an evidence-based framework designed to ensure social, emotional, and academic wellbeing among its student body.
Additionally, the District has established 13 learning centers which provide educational services to the children of district staff members, first responders and essential workers as well as active U.S. military personnel and their families. These schools also offer special programs tailored for English Language Learners and gifted and talented students. Using the TEA 2022 accountability system, all but three campuses achieved either an A or B rating; with 10 sites earning 100 ratings in Closing the Gaps domain.
Our Vision
Fort Bend Education Foundation has distributed over $36 Million in educational grants since 2004, creating opportunities to enrich and extend student learning. As a tax-exempt, non-profit corporation dedicated to improving student outcomes through grants, the Foundation continues its work through grants of all sizes throughout Fort Bend District.
The Superintendent oversees daily operations of the District and works towards meeting goals set by its Board of Trustee. Both he and staff report directly to this body made up of local citizens elected from each of its seven districts within the District.
FBISD continues its academic growth as evidenced by their 2022 Accountability Ratings, where most campuses earned A grades and outperformed their group in one of the state domains. We’re thrilled that Cornerstone Elementary has advanced to the Destination Imagination Global Finals tournament to be held this May in Kansas City – managed by Kamal Thota and Tejas Mehta of InDIstructibles team and dedicated to encouraging creativity and problem-solving skills through academic competition.
Our Goals
Our District goals are guided by our Core Beliefs and Commitments, Mission Vision Statement and Profile of a Graduate that have been approved by our Board. At both campus level as well as at District level these goals serve to support continuous improvement initiatives to ensure all of our students have equal chances at succeeding.
Goal 1: Promote lifelong wellness of staff, students and the community by actively encouraging utilization of wellness resources that contribute to an educational environment focused on the whole school, whole child and whole family – in accordance with both District Wellness Policy – FFA (Local) and FBISD Profile of Graduate Attributes.
FBISD is committed to offering an exceptional education system that will promote hope, foster responsibility, and equip all students to pursue futures beyond what they can imagine. This will be accomplished by cultivating effective staff and creating scalable systems. Fort Bend ISD graduates approach life with wonder and curiosity; seek opportunities to be creative; thirst for knowledge; and are academically prepared to achieve their dreams.
